Super Bowl LV Hot Takes: Who Will Be the Better QB?

It’s showtime! Super Bowl LV is upon us and we’re guaranteed a great matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A battle between the GOAT and the future GOAT. Whatever the score will be, it sure is going to be an exciting one.

Even though the game is being played in Tampa Bay (a first in Super Bowl history), the Chiefs are the slight favorite to take home the Lombardi. But would anyone be surprised if Tom Brady came out and led the Buccaneers to their second Super Bowl? I know I wouldn’t.

WARNING: Multiple hot takes incoming, any roasts can be sent directly to my MySpace.

Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady Light it Up, but Mahomes Breaks the Passing Record

Brady currently owns the Super Bowl game record for passing yards in a game with 505 yards against the Eagles. He’s also second on the list, throwing for 466 against the Falcons the year before. But Patrick Mahomes is a different breed. If ANYONE is going to break the record, it’s Mahomes. If I was a betting man (and I only bet on Dogecoin), I’d take the over that these two combine for over 800 yards.

Tom Brady Has More Interceptions than Touchdowns

When it comes to the Super Bowl, Brady is THAT dude. Nine Super Bowl appearances, six Super Bowl wins… guy got so bored of winning the AFC, he chose chaos and went to the NFC. Brady’s got as many NFC Championship victories as Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. But that’s not what this take is about.

Brady has kept his interceptions under control when it comes to the big game. But against this Chiefs secondary, which he threw two to them earlier in the season, don’t expect him to have a good TD-INT ratio. Brady is coming off a three interception game against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship. Don’t be surprised if the Chiefs are successful in their duck hunt.

This Becomes the Highest Scoring Super Bowl Game

The record is 75 points when the San Francisco 49ers beat the San Diego Chargers 49-26. Funny enough, Brady was a part of the second highest scoring Super Bowls, when he lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 41-33. Mahomes and the Chiefs are a much better option than the Eagles and Brady has better offensive weapons in Tampa Bay. 75 is the number, which will definitely be broken.

The Backup Running Backs Will Outperform the Starters

Leonard Fournette and Le’Veon Bell/Darrel Williams will play better than Ronald Jones and Clyde-Edwards Helaire. This might not be that much of a hot take because they have been outperforming the starters already, but to be fair Jones and Helaire have been dealing with injuries.

Fournette has been rolling for the Bucs in the playoffs while Williams stepped up huge in the postseason with Helaire and Bell out with injury. But make no mistake: both sides are going to bring everything they got, that includes everyone being healthy and ready to go.

Brady and the Bucs Make a Late Comeback, but Mahomes and the Chiefs Win Second Straight Super Bowl

If you think this will be a Seahawks-Broncos Super Bowl where the young quarterback and company dominate the aging quarterback, you’ll be sadly mistaken. This game will be fast-paced and high scoring. The Chiefs will break away for a bit, but Brady does what Brady does and the Bucs will mount a comeback late in the game. The Bucs might even take the lead late - only for a bit.

Mahomes is simply the best player in football right now. The guy makes plays that shouldn’t be humanly possible - Mahomes is a walking highlight reel. Chiefs are walking away back to back, like they on the cover of lethal weapon. Back to back like they Jordan ‘96, ‘97. Okay enough Drake, but you get the point.

Picks: Chiefs - 3, Over 56

Final Score Prediction: 45-41 Chiefs over Buccaneers
